I wrote a page entitled "Heart of the Bible"; I hope you have found it. Since then I have come across many other verses about this most amazing of creations - the heart - and what the Lord God says about it by way of different people in the Bible. We start with the Old Testament.

Psalm 37 verse 4: "Seek your happiness in the Lord, and He will give you your heart's desire". Psalm 51 verse 10: "Create a pure heart in me, O God, and put a new and loyal spirit in me". Many of the Psalms were written by King David of Israel, including these two.

1 Samuel chapter 16 verse 7: "I do not judge as people judge. They look at the outward appearance, but I look at the heart" (the Lord's words to Samuel).

1 Kings chapter 8 verse 39: "You alone know the thoughts of the human heart. Deal with each person as he deserves" (part of King Solomon's prayer, verses 22 to 53).

Jeremiah chapter 17 verse 10: "I, the Lord, search human hearts and test hearts. I treat each one according to the way he lives, according to what he does" (the Lord's words to the prophet Jeremiah).

Now for some encouraging words from St.Paul in the New Testament.

Romans chapter 5 verse 5: "For God has poured out His love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to us". Ephesians chapter 3 verse 17: "I pray that Christ will make His home in your hearts through faith".

Finally, some words from our Lord Jesus, in His wonderful Sermon on the Mount. Matthew chapter 5 verse 8: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God". (Be wholesome and untainted by immorality) Luke chapter 6 verse 45: "A good person brings good out of the treasure of good things in his heart; a bad person brings bad things out of his treasure of bad things. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of".
